HARVEY F. WHITLEY
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Harvey F. Whitley, from Monroe, North Carolina, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 95th International Convention, held in Busan, Korea June 22-26, 2012.
Director Whitley is a retired financial advisor.
A member of the Monroe Benton Heights Lions Club and a Lion since 1987, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, region chair, district governor, MD 31 Constitution and Bylaws Chair, MD 31 Leadership Chair and MD 31 Retention and Orientation Chair, MD 31 LCIF Coordinator, Sector Coordinator for CSF II and Convention Elections Committee Chair. He has also served on the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Planning Committee and volunteered at Camp Dogwood for the Visually Impaired and the Visually Impaired Fishing Tournament.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the 100% Club President Award, Club Lion of the Year, District Lion of the Year, LEO Extension Award, Jack Stickley Humanitarian White Cane Award, two International President’s Awards, 11 International President’s Certificates of Appreciation and the International President’s Leadership Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Whitley is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including as a former troop scout master for Boy Scouts of America, pre-school moderator and board member at his church and Top 10 Producer in securities and insurance sales.
Director Whitley and his wife, Diane, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children and three grandchildren.
